Legal Status

St. Georg Austrian High School operates as a private foreign school whose rights are defined by Law No. 625 and the Treaty of Lausanne. Students who complete the school receive a Turkish High School Diploma.

Since the 1995/96 academic year, Turkish students have also been able to obtain an Austrian High School Diploma alongside their Turkish diploma. Students wishing to obtain this qualification must take the Matura school-leaving examinations held at our school under Austrian law. Under the Austrian Higher Education Act and related regulations, graduates holding our Matura diploma have the same rights as students in Austria and may study at any Austrian university.

For many years, our school has also remained among Türkiye's leading schools in terms of success in the nationwide university entrance examinations.

The curriculum and all school activities are subject to Turkish national education legislation. Our school has its own regulations, prepared under Law No. 625 and other applicable legal provisions and approved by the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
