Founder's Representative Alexander Jernej was appointed in 2021 with full authority by the founder, the Austrian Lazarists of St. Vincent de Paul, and continues to serve in this role.
The Founder's Representative appoints all teachers and staff, establishes the school's infrastructure, and arranges maintenance, repairs and equipment. Financial management is entirely under the supervision of the Founder's Representative.
Sankt Georg Austrian High School was founded in 1882 by the Austrian Lazarists. Its establishment was confirmed by the Ottoman Empire through Sultan Reşat's decree no. 973 of 13 June 1918. The Republic of Türkiye recognised the school within the framework of the Treaty of Lausanne of 24 July 1923.
Under the Regulation on Private Educational Institutions, students equal to 3% of total enrolment are educated free of charge.
Students identified as being in financial need are also offered tuition discounts at various rates.
The Founder's Representative provides a special scholarship in memory of former principal Ernest Raidl and seeks scholarship opportunities from various Austrian non-governmental organisations for our graduates studying at universities in Austria.
All school expenses are covered by tuition fees. The Austrian Ministry of Education covers the expenses of the 34 Austrian teachers assigned to our school. The Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also supports the Austrian Library located at the school.
