Counselling Service

Our Guidance and Psychological Counselling Service provides individual psychological counselling, career guidance and educational guidance. Through seminars, group activities, peer support projects and social and cultural events, it takes an integrated approach that supports the teaching and learning environment. In line with preventive counselling, conferences for students and parents and in-service training for teachers are also organised according to need.

We support students in understanding themselves and making informed choices in line with their interests and abilities, becoming productive individuals at ease with themselves and their surroundings, improving everyday problem-solving skills and taking responsibility for their decisions. Individual meetings and group work address academic and social skills, effective study methods, learning styles, course selection, the Matura (Austrian school-leaving examination), university entrance systems, exam anxiety, careers, career planning, motivation, decision-making and adolescence.

As our school is bilingual and bicultural, orientation and information activities begin in the preparatory year to help students understand the school system and adapt easily.

In preparatory classes, form advisers alternate with the relevant psychological counsellors in all guidance lessons. In other year groups, class guidance teachers and form advisers also conduct guidance activities in rotation with psychological counsellors. Alongside the objectives set for each class, these lessons explain the Private Sankt Georg Austrian High School and Commercial School's Promotion and Examination Regulations, the Ministry of National Education's Regulation on Secondary Education Institutions and general school rules.
